![]() Cubbies Club is the Awana program for preschoolers
age 3 years through pre-kindergarten boys and girls. Cubbies is different from the programs for older Clubbers, therefore refer only to these pages for information applicable to the Cubbies program. The Cubbies program is designed for Total Time Teaching. This approach to learning reinforces Bible teaching by coordinating all the activities of a Cubbies Club meeting around a lesson focus. It involves the 5 physical senses (touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight) as much as possible. THE FIRST NIGHT…
The first time your child comes to Cubbies, he or she will receive a Bear Hug Brochure. This is the first step in Cubbie Achievement. Please help your child work their way through the brochure the first week. When it is complete, your child will have earned the right to wear a Cubbies Vest and will begin work in the Jumper Handbook. (see next page for costs involved.) Please be sure to submit the completed Medical Authorization form for your child. The form is found in the back of this handbook. THE PARENTS ROLE…
Active participation by you is crucial to your child’s success in the program. Each week, you need to read the Bear Hug to your child and help them memorize their verse. Older Cubbies are required to memorize the reference while younger Cubbies are not. The Handbook provides specific instructions on how to help your child understand each lesson. Please sign the Bear Hug each week so your child’s Leader will know he or she has worked on it. THE CUBBIES CLUB NIGHT:
The Cubbies Club night is comprised of the following elements: Coming-in Time & Starting Time begins with attendance, singing, and a visit from Cubbie bear puppet, as well as his friends Luv E. Lamb, Ern E. Elephant, & Gigi the Giraffe. Quiet time & Story Time activities transition Cubbies into prayer and the Bible story. Snack, Craft, game, & Book Time reinforce the Bible verse and Story. This is also a fun time as the children learn through play. Going Home & Awards Time is a Wrap up and time to give rewards when they have been earned. CUBBIE AWARDS:
Attendance awards are given as Lion emblems twice a year. Cubbies who miss only 2 or fewer meetings the first half of the year receive a lion patch. Those with two or fewer meetings missed the second half also receive a Lion patch. Regular Sunday school attendance is rewarded with either a Zebra emblem the first year of club or a Giraffe emblem the second year of club. Trail Patch awards are given when the first two Jumper Trail or Hopper Trail Bear hugs are successfully completed. The Lamb emblems or Elephant emblems are given as each Lamb path or Elephant walk section is completed in the Handbook. A Cubbie Bear emblem can be earned by completing 20 Character Builders in the optional Character Building Books. Year-end Awards and Diplomas are also given at the special Awards ceremony. |
