Children’s Ministry

Our belief about Children’s ministry is that it should be Bible Based, meaningful, and fun.
Our Children's Ministry exists for one purpose—to help children know, love and follow God with all their heart, soul and strength.
The Children's Ministry provides a safe, fun, enriching environment for your preschool to preteen child to learn about Christ and discover how to love others and become a faithful Christian.
The goal of Children’s Ministry is to partner with parents to develop children and preteens by:
  • Changing
  • Hearts
  • Into
  • Lifelong
  • Disciples

Our events, programs and Bible study curriculum align with our core values:
  • Develop children as Christ-followers and enable them to share their faith.
  • Develop children as worshippers.
  • Teach children how to pray.
  • Enable children to make wise choices according to Scripture.

What is AWANA?

AWANA is an international, Bible-centered children's and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs, programs and training for students in preschool through high school. The goal is to equip churches to reach children and teenagers, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.

AWANA began in 1950 as a youth program at the North Side Gospel Center in Chicago, Illinois that would appeal to young people, reach them with the gospel and train them in the Lord’s work. Other churches heard about the success of the AWANA program and asked if they could use it.  Today, more than 11,000 U.S. churches run AWANA. There are clubs in all 50 states. AWANA can also be found in 3,300 churches in 109 other countries and six continents.

At First Baptist Church Sudbury, AWANA Kids Bible Club is for children ages 3 through 8th  grade and meets on Friday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. during the school year.
