HEALTH POLICY PDF Print E-mail

First Baptist Church of Sudbury, MA, Health Policy as of 9/14/2009

Parents please be advised that if your child exhibits or develops any of the following conditions or symptoms we will not be able to allow them into the classrooms. Parents will be contacted to take their child home.

FEVER – A child with a fever of 100 or higher should be kept home until the fever has been normal for 24 hours. If a fever develops while the child is in the classroom, one of the teachers will come and get one of the parents to take the child home.

VOMITING – If your child has vomited in the past 24 hours they should be kept home. If your child vomits while in the classroom, one of the teachers will come and get one of the parents to take the child home.

DIARRHEA – A child with diarrhea should be kept home and will be sent back to the parents until the child is diarrhea free for 24 hours. Parent will be contacted to take the child home.

RUNNY NOSE – Clear discharge caused by allergies is acceptable; however, if the discharge is thick yellow or green or if the discharge is accompanied by a fever, the teacher will return the child to their parents. Parents will be contacted to take the child home.

ANTIBIOTICS – If the child is on antibiotics for a contagious illness such as strep the child must be kept home until they have been on antibiotics for 24 to 48 hours. If the illness is not contagious (such as an ear infection), the child will be allowed in his/her class.

RASHES – A child who has a communicable rash should be kept home until the rash is gone. If one of the teachers notices a suspicious rash develop while the child is in our care, we will immediately contact the parents to take the child home until they are sure that it is not contagious.

IMPETIGO and CONJUNCTIVITIS or other communicative diseases – Impetigo is characterized by sores that seem like they won’t heal and is often around the nose and mouth.Conjunctivitis is reddened eyes with a yellowish discharge. Both are very contagious and should be treated by a physician. Any child with these infections should be kept home until the treatment has improved the conditions, or once they have been on antibiotics for 24 to 48 hours. If either of these conditions are found, the parents will be contacted to take the child home.

HEAD LICE – Since head lice spreads rapidly, it will be dealt with immediately. If a child in a classroom is found to have head lice the child will be separated from the other children and the parents will be contacted to take the child home. The other children will be checked by teachers using proper precautions (i.e. using gloves). A notice will be posted and distributed to the other parents so that they know to watch for signs. The child can come back when they are nit and lice-free.
